Festival

6 days, 5 nights - welcome to sehsüchte 2006.

Between April 25th and 30th, Potsdam-Babelsberg will resume its status once more as the hub of the world of up-and-coming international film-making. Film-makers will present their films, participate in podium discussions, and compete for the ten awards that this year add up to a total of 35,000 euros. In addition to the core categories of Feature Film, Documentary and Animation, this year's cast of prominent jury members will also decide on best script and and best editing.

sehsuechte 2006 has much to offer outside of the competition itself. The Focus programme has been reconceived to provide an annually changing look into the cinematic achievements of a certain region. This year we will be taking a look at young Russian film-makers.

The cinematic programme is further enhanced with workshops, discussion groups, nightlife and even football, with the sehsuechte team playing against a squad of international film-makers. All of this from quite unimposing origins: launched approximately forty years ago as the National Student Film Days of the GDR, revived ten years ago by the students of the HFF as sehsuechte, the festival has now grown into the largest student film festival of its kind in Europe, which just goes to prove that a mighty flame is created from tiny sparks.
